Omega Seamaster 300 Watches

In 1957, as scuba-diving surged in popularity, Omega introduced the Seamaster 300 as its first professional divers’ watch. Decades later, after countless other Seamaster models had been introduced, the original design was revived and equipped with Omega’s trademark co-axial movement.

Omega Seamaster 300 Watches

The Omega Seamaster 300 is a legendary watch with a rich history of development and evolution. Launched in 1957 as a professional diver’s watch for military and commercial use, the Seamaster 300 quickly gained popularity due to its sturdy build and impressive water resistance.

It was originally introduced as part of a trilogy of models that included the Railmaster and the Speedmaster, with all three models sharing design cohesion, such as the broad-arrow handset.

As the story goes, Omega was only able to claim a water resistance of 200 metres in the advertisements for its new watch, despite the number “300” printed on the dial. This was because the testing equipment of the time only measured up to 200 metres, leaving Omega temporarily unable to substantiate its claim.

The Seamaster 300 was in production up until the 1970s and saw only a small design update in that time, most notably a different handset—the hour hand was a bold, sword shape—and trapezoid hour markers instead of the triangular style.

Since then, the Seamaster line has become synonymous with the character James Bond, who started wearing the watch in the 1995 film GoldenEye. However, these modern Seamasters share little aesthetic similarities with the traditional Seamaster 300.

In 2014, Omega capitalised on the trend for reissuing past classics and revived the Seamaster 300, complete with faux-aged lume for a vintage look. This contemporary version features a classic stainless-steel 41mm case, a black quarter-Arabic dial and a water resistance of 300 metres. The Omega Seamaster 300 also now boasts a sapphire crystal and an exhibition caseback, allowing you to see the self-winding movement.

This first reissue can be identified by its two-lines of text on the lower half of the dial—“Master Co-Axial Chronometer”— whereas the updated version a few years later went for the more minimal dial style of the 1957 original, which simply stated, “Seamaster 300”. This later version also featured Panerai-style recessed hour markers.

The latest Omega Seamaster 300s also incorporate state-of-the-art technology. They are all equipped with Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer movements, ensuring extreme accuracy and reliability.

With various Seamaster 300 models released over the past few years, there is plenty of choice. Dials come not only in matte black but also vibrant lapis lazuli and malachite, while a more high-end model is offered in a bronze gold alloy. There is also a Summer Blue version, released to celebrate the collection’s 75th anniversary, whose smoky graduated dial brings to mind the ocean depths. This edition features an engraving of Poseidon on the closed caseback.

At Watchfinder, we're committed to helping you find your ideal pre-owned Omega Seamaster 300—one that meets your needs and style. Browse our collection and experience the craftsmanship, heritage, and elegance of these timeless dive watches.
